Thank you!

In 3 years and 9 months I’ve already reached 100,000 visits from people in Port Alberni, on the Island and around the world!

I’ve been very happy that so many people keep coming back. It’s been a great success so far and I have plans to make it better!

Thank you!

Update: Perseids Meteor Shower peaks tonight… watch for it after sundown. See reports/updates at www.spaceweather.com

  1. Hi Chris.. the solar radiation values is obscured by the WindChill title on the box below. I’m on IE7 on a few different computers and it has done the same thing on Firefox as well.

  2. That’s a little strange considering it’s fine in Firefox on the Mac… but I’ll take a look here.

  3. Ah, I see what it was… apparently Windows doesn’t deal well with “superscript”… so I’ve made it normal with the carot to signify power-of.

It was doing the same for the Air Density value.

    Thanks Nick!

  4. No problem Chris. Now I can see just how baked and crunchy I’m going to get seeing how I just took the soft-top off my tracker!

  5. While I’m thinking of it, whats the maximum that sensor will report at high noon under clear skys?

  6. From what I’ve read around the intarweeb the max in this part of the world is generally somewhere between 850-950 at the height of summer at high noon.

That’s as you say on a clear, cloudless, day.

It can be higher though due to reflections from clouds and stuff which seems to be born out in this particular graph from islandweather today which reached a max of 1165.

  7. to bad your camera doesnt take real time so you could aim it at the sky tonight and maybe catch some crazy meteors lol

  8. That is a great idea!

I just updated the script I use to archive the images so now it is archiving one every minute instead of every 5… that’s as often as I can have it do it. Who knows, might get lucky. Won’t know until the timelapse tomorrow.

I also updated the camera itself and it is uploading to this website every 10 seconds instead of 30 seconds so hopefully we catch one!

  9. None!

I stayed up until 12AM and if it wasn’t the moon.. it was the encroaching clouds. By 12AM it was almost totally cloudy… so we’ll have to wait until next year!

  10. yea i kept lookin out the window but all i could see was the clouds. so i went to sleep. ohwell lol.
