It looks like Environment Canada has updated their webpages! Nice update actually.. but that’s why there is no forecast at the bottom of this box like there should be this morning. I’ll have to revamp my grabber code to get the text forecast from a different source. It might take me a few days. In the meantime, the direct link still works.

Still mighty cold out there! And it looks like we might be getting some snow in the next couple days! Saturday is calling for real snowfall.

Update: Forecast is back.. let me know if you see anything funky but it seems to be working well. They didn’t change too much thankfully, just the URL and a bit of the preamble.

  1. They have a text only link at the bottom of the page. The new look is nice for sure. I didn’t like that fact that the page wouldn’t refresh from 9am – 11:30am this morning. Also, they don’t have the updated time…good thing I know the reg times they update but sometimes if weather permitting, they update at odd times. Maybe these are just glitchs they’ll work out. Anyway, the link is http://text.www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/forecast/city_e.html?bc-46&unit=m for text only.

  2. Thanks Deb. Ya the new look is cool.. it makes me nervous though what else they might have changed… but we’ll see over the next few days I guess. I’m mainly hoping they haven’t changed how they display their warnings.. before it was really sweet cuz the warning just sort of popped up automatically on their page. I didn’t have to do anything. 🙂 Hopefully that continues and I don’t have to be less lazy 🙂

  3. Yeah, I’ve been checking it out a bit more…the updated time is on the text version. So I’ll just have to click once more or read yours 🙂 I notice on the text version they have the temp’s in point like yours…they are pretty close today…they are usually colder but yours is 2.6C and theirs is 2.3C. I checked the warnings by clicking on Sandspit…working fine 🙂

  4. If you put your curser over the deatils, the forecast comes up. Don’t need to click on anything.
