Brett Anderson of Accuweather is saying that depending on the timing of weather patterns on Friday, we could have a significant snow event for Friday/Saturday.

At this point, it looks like the storm will track into western Washington later Friday, which is a favorable track for snow in Vancouver assuming there is enough cold air coming in. Rain will likely change to snow from northeast to southwest in the region from southern BC to Washington and then perhaps northwestern Oregon.

How much snow? It is still early, but I certainly could see 5-10 cm in Vancouver and several more in the higher elevations just to the west. An inch or two is even possible in the Seattle area. Computer models are not that impressed for Strait of Georgia enhanced snowfall Saturday over eastern Vancouver Island, but I still think there will be snow showers, especially over southeastern parts of the island and a small accumulation.

Looks like my wife is best positioned to get herself a prize for predicting snow. If anyone out there hasn’t picked a day yet, you might want to get Friday in and pick a time you think it might start to see who is closest!

  3. heh.. brads still all good…

It’s only pick a time if you are picking a day that someone has already picked…

if you’re not within an hour on either side of your time that you picked, then the person who picked the day first wins.

I will be the first to admit I am making this up as I go along, so don’t expect anything too impressive if you win! :p

  4. It’s sort of like the Westminster Parliamentary system… this contest is based more on precedent, or lack of, than any set rules. 😉 :p
