It’s almost Spring, time for Snow!

So you might have noticed in the forecast for next week there is mention of the whitestuff!

Mark Madryga was mentioning it on his forecast Thursday morning as well and he seemed quite adamant that “higher elevations” could receive a bit of snow on Monday.

What do you think? Are we in for a big dump! Is this going to be our Snowmageaddon? Are we going to give up our record warm January and February and have a Decembery-March?

Can this winter get any more abnormal?

Ha. Well that doesn’t look like it’s in the cards right now. But that certainly would make it more snowmageaddon like! :)

To be honest though, snow in March or even April isn’t that unusual. But the past 2 months have been just so warm, it’s weird that now we’re getting the possibility of snow!

According EC records, the record snowfall for March was March 1 ’71, with 41.1 cm! On April 8 ’72 5.8 cm fell. Do you think we can beat those?

All this fun stuff possibly coming, and the only enhancements I can’t generate on a narrow bandwidth receiver are the precip ones. DOH! The MSA ones are coming in nicely, and the MCIR are a work in progress.

-3 and -4 on Monday and Tuesday.. that’s about as cold as we’ve been any time this winter!

Eww it sure doesn’t look very nice out there. The temperature is dropping, the windchill is below freezing and it’s pouring! Yuk!

It’s snowing nicely at Burde Hill right now 5:30pm. The grass is white, like my knuckles all the way from Nanaimo, when I first saw the sleet at 4:00.

WE even got it out here on the coast. Last report I had was the dandruff had blades of grass poking through. Might be an interesting drive to work tomorrow.

That is a doozy indeed!

I was noticing a couple days ago on a north-west hemisphere SST anomaly map there was a chunk of overly warm water off our shores…

I was watching satellite images over the past few days and was noticing the moisture really picking up from where that warm water was.

One wonders if that’s contributing to the strength of that low pressure centre up there.
