Hurricane Gustav

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

I’m not a religious person… but if I was, I’d be praying for the people of Cuba right now, and praying that Gustav doesn’t do too much damage to Louisiana and Mississippi.

It is already a Category 4, 150mph winds at the eyewall, 240km/h

There will be hurricane force winds reaching into Havana tonight.

I will be following closely, because I find it awe inspiring, Google Earth has incredible abilities for this, but we must not forget the human dimension to the story.

Hoping for the best…

UPDATE: 16:33 Just heard a thunderclap! Haven’t spotted any lightning yet though!

Wow! New RainRate Record!

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Wow… we had quite the cloudburst Monday Afternoon.

Recorded a rainrate of over 93mm/hr.

Should be drier tomorrow with another band of rain coming through tomorrow night and Wednesday.
