Presenting to Council on Peak Oil and Transition Towns

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Hey!

On June 9 I will be making a presentation to Council on why Energy prices have gone through the roof, and why they’ll stay up there… and what Port Alberni could do about it.

I’ve posted my narrated slideshow on my blog at www.murkyview.com

Please check it out and post any feedback you might have here or at murkyview.

UPDATE Friday May 30, 2008: I’ve added a “Monthly Text Summary” and “Daily Text Data” link under the Forecast. Click them! I think you’ll like them. You can find previous days and months under the Weather Archive. The Year and Monthly summaries has averages, highs, and lows and other data for each day of the month so far. The Daily file records the raw data every 5 minutes as it is archived in the weather software.

Mars Weather Lander on NASA TV now

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Usually people who like the weather like space too… must be a looking up thing… :)

The Phoenix Lander is about to land (starting 4PM PST) on Mars. On board is a Canadian built weather-station to measure the weather on Mars!

Check it out Live here.. they should post a replay of it later here as well if you miss it.

UPDATE: Phoenix has landed successfully… sitting perfectly on the surface of Mars near the “Arctic Circle”. Where there is, hopefully, water and if we’re really lucky, life, just buried in the dirt. It was fun to watch the mission control!

Cool break before more heat

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Expect this frontal system to blow through pretty quick… we should be back into some nice 25+ temperatures by the weekend!

Apologies again for the flakyness of the text forecast below the webcam… it’s been really difficult to get it working reliably. You best bet is to click there to be taken directly to the forecast page at Environment Canada.

15C at 9PM… it’s gonna be a HOT May Long!

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Just stepped outside to put away the kids toys and it was WARM outside. 15C at 9PM… wow. They’re calling for 26C tomorrow. I call 30. They’re calling for 31 on Friday, I’ll call 35. :) I think Saturday might actually not be so bad, looks like that system is going to come in pretty fast. But who knows, it might be a hot, muggy, weekend!

Chill the lemonade and fill up your propane tank. It’s Summer time in Port Alberni!

This Topic is officially categorized “Hot”. :D

Warm Week ahead!

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

By the forecast, looks like we’re setting up for a warm, maybe even hot long weekend! Just gotta get through these first couple days. Just so I don’t jinx it, I will only categorize this as “General”. :)

Thanks for being patient with me while I worked on the software. Have it all figured out now and things are back up and running.

Hope everyone had a wonderful day with their Mothers, Grandmas, Mothers-in-Law, and Step-Moms too!
