The CRTC-approved program will force all broadcasters to issue weather alerts during severe weather.

“You are going to have an automatic interruption of your TV and your radio and other technologies,” including cellphones, satellite TV and internet service, said Chuck Sanderson with Manitoba’s Emergency Measures Organization.

The national system will cost about $9 million

Looks like this afternoons sun is just a break between storms. Get ready for more rain tomorrow and through the week.

Big Low on the way… currently on the 24hr chart at North Pacific Forecast, 951mb Should be visible in the regular analysis on the frontpage Monday… just between the 2nd and 3rd low furthest West.

Well it looks like the low itself is forecast to go to the Gulf of Alaska and send a front our way.

The High Seas FOrecast now says it will deepend to 946mb and then rise to 950s in the Gulf. We’ll see what the front gives us when it gets here on Thursday or Friday. Could be pretty strong especially if the low ends up a lttle closer to us.

The low is on the frontpage analysis now… gigantic front! 954mb low… 70knot winds. 45-50 knot storm force frontal winds right now. We’ll see if it’s that strong when it gets here.
