The Rains have returned!

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Well, we were all wishing for some action weather wise… we got it today. Even got a little bit of wind to remind us just how wet a good downpour can be.

Hope you’re all satisfied. ;)

Quiet few weeks!

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

It sure has been quiet the past few weeks. February has been a docile month. Some beautiful weather though! We’re slated to get a bit of rain over the next few days, but don’t expect too much and by the looks of the long range satellite, we should have a nice break of sun once it has passed through.

I wonder if the warmer weather is here to stay?

Sun instead of Showers!

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

When was the last time the forecast called for showers and we got 100% blue sky instead!?

What a beautiful morning. Lets hope it lasts. There is a cute little low just off of Barkley Sound twirling and doin’ its’ thing. If this was a month ago, we’d be looking at a snowfall warning. Today, we’re lookin’ at 10 degrees and a few showers!

Spring is coming!

Eclipse Photos!

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

If you were in Port Alberni last night, and likely anywhere on the island, there was some Great photo opportunities! I got some great shots of the eclipse.

Here’s a couple I really liked. Click to see larger versions… click here to see a short timelapse (Quicktime Required). You can see more stills at my SmugMug gallery.

Quiet Days – Sprouts and a Red Moon

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

It’s been foggy mornings and sunny afternoons for the past while. Not much exciting in the weather department.

I guess that means that Spring is coming. I saw daffodils poking up around our house last week. Lots of little green sprouts here and there.

If you didn’t already know, there will be a Lunar Eclipse on Wednesday! It is a total lunar eclipse! The last one until 2010. If our current weather pattern of foggy mornings and clear evenings holds up we should be able to get a good look at it!

The eclipse starts at about 7PM PST… apparently just before the moon rises here, so keep your eyes locked just North of Mt. Arrowsmith and you should see a Bad Moon Rising! ;)

UPDATE: 4:34PM Wednesday Well, if we can just hold on to this little bit of clear sky for a couple more hours we’ll have ourselves a wonderful eclipse tonight. Everyone work your magic and hold off that approaching front!
