WHAT IS SEVERE WEATHER?

Environment Canada has a "Severe Weather Watcher Program" in which I take part.
Severe Weather refers to a few specific occurences in the Pacific Coastal Region

• Heavy Rain - 50mm in 12hrs or 100mm in 24hrs
• Heavy Snow - Greater than 10cm in Port Alberni area (including Sproat Lake!)
• Damaging Winds - Greater than 85kph
• Freezing Rain - All Sightings
• Hail - 1cm diameter (marble sized) or larger
• Tornado, Funnel Cloud, or Water Spout - All Sightings
