Campfire Ban returns at Noon today – Forest Fire Rating back to Extreme

We are back to an Extreme fire rating for the Alberni Valley.  Campfires will be banned in all coastal areas (except the “fog zone” on the west coast) as of Noon today.

We will be having our hottest day of the week tomorrow with highs up to 34ºC forecast.  Be safe in the woods folks.  Most forest fires in our region and in the province are caused by people, not lightning.  That means none of those actually need to ever happen!

The long range Canadian Ensemble models have us finally getting some relief from the dry weather around the 10th.

There is a lot of disagreement in the models and that’s still 9 days away though so anything can happen.

Have fun!  I will have a summary up for July later today or this weekend.  Happy BC Day!
