Just saw a forecast for the rest of the winter and into early spring. Looks like the models are telling us that we can expect a continuation of the cold weather. Probably means more snow, though i can’t see us getting anywhere near what we had in December.

We should get a few beautiful days in the next few. I’ll take the cold over the fog any day of the week! 🙂

  1. Hey Chris, the fluid in my weatherglass has risen over the top of the spout and is dripping over!!!! This is supposed to mean a local storm within 12 hours. I don’t see any interesting weather forcasted in the near future….what the hey?
    Maybe it’s faulty?

  2. Is the fluid measuring pressure?

It’s not overly high pressure though one of the highest pressures I’ve recorded was actually this past January at 104kpA…

I’m not sure what it would be telling you. Maybe its envious of the big swirl up in Alaska right now. 🙂

  3. It is measuring pressure, the higher the water in the spout the lower the pressure….I think you’re right about the Alaska swirl.

  4. Well if it thinks this is low pressure, you’re going to have to get a mop eventually when we get down below 98kPa!

My guess would be that it came with a standard amount of fluid in it and it will sort of calibrate itself (onto your floor 🙂 ) as we get a lot more swings in pressure than other places.

  5. I actually had to add the water….so maybe I put the wrong amount in to begin with. It is dropping again tho’ something to do with those swings you’re talking about.
    Thanks for the input.

  6. Well i dont see any big weather systems in the next week so i dont think we will get any storms in the near future.

  7. Chris: I read the Accuweather blogs and his weekly long range forecasts have been dead-on for the lower than normal temperatures, but he also keeps predicting normal or above normal precipitation. We’ve only had 22 mm of precipitation so far this month, so lets hope he’s still wrong. We don’t need more snow!

  8. The new website pages I’ve put online introduced me to some new variables within the software I run. Last year at this time I had almost 400mm of precip since Jan 1st compared to the 81 this year. Albeit not all the snow made it into my rain gauge, but its still considerably down.

  9. Wow! Now that’s a great forecast!!

  10. Hey Chris, question about your UV data.. is that an actual value from a sensor, or a calculated forecast based on the solar sensor?

  11. Ok.. so this source I have for UV forecast is pretty damn close, and I think the server is in Holland.
